Transportation

Matsue is the capital city of Shimane Prefecture, in Southwest Japan. Known as the “City of Water”, Matsue stands by the Sea of Japan where Lake Shinji and Nakaumi meet, in the middle of Shimane Peninsula.

Matsue can be easily reached by two nearby airports, Izumo Airport (IZO) and Yonago Airport (YNG). There are regular domestic connections from Osaka Itami (Osaka International, ITM), Tokyo/Haneda (HND), Nagoya and Fukuoka Airports. International flights to Yonago Airport are available from Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Hong Kong (HKG). Attendees from outside of Japan are advised to take a flight to Tokyo/Haneda (HND) and transfer to a domestic flight to IZO or YNG, if there is no direct international flight to YNG.

There are airport shuttle bus service from both the aiports to downtown Matsue.



Taxis are readily available at the two airports. Fare to Matsue downtown will be:
 From Izumo Airport: approx. ¥9,000 (40 minutes)
 From Yonago Airport: approx. ¥10,000 (40 minutes)
